We Proudly Present HVAC/R Graduate Evan Colvin
On June 28, 2021

Summer's here, and keeping homes and workplaces cool is a top priority for many. Maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems is a vital, in-demand service. That's why Evan Colvin enrolled in Stautzenberger College's HVAC/R program. We are extremely proud of him for not only graduating but also becoming a heating installer for M&M Heating and Cooling, Inc. Since 1980, M&M Heating and Cooling has been maintaining residential and commercial heating and air conditioning systems in Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan.1 We are ecstatic to see Evan reach his professional goals, and we are ready to help you reach yours, too.

What You Learn in an HVAC/R Program

For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Evan took courses such as: HVAC Refrigerant Delivery Systems and Wiring Terminations, Steam and Commercial Hydronic Systems, and Troubleshooting HVAC.

In these courses, he learned about:

  • The various refrigerants and oils used in the industry, compressors, fasteners, hardware, wiring terminations, the equipment used to transfer heat, and circulation methods.
  • The equipment and controls used for storing and moving steam energy; various types and components of commercial hot-water heating and chilled-water cooling systems; the requirements of properly venting fuel-burning furnaces and boilers; the applications, principles, and troubleshooting of retail refrigeration systems; and the skills and tools needed to balance air systems.
  • The skills needed to troubleshoot HVAC equipment such as heat pumps, gas-fired furnaces and boilers, oil-fired heating systems, and accessories commonly found in heating and cooling equipment.

Hands-on training in the lab gave Evan the practical experience he needed for his career.
