Inspired by her mother’s journey to be a phlebotomist, Shari Ross attended and received her Associate of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  She worked during her entire time in school and completed her clinical on time even though things were delayed due to Covid.  What an impressive feat!

Ms. Ross had glowing compliments for her lab instructor and clinical coordinator, Susan Sroub.  Shari firmly believes that Stautzenberger fully prepared her for a position as a sonographer. 

What you Learn in our Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program

Sonographers work both in hospitals and doctor’s offices to take images of a person’s body.  They also get the exciting job of looking at a fetus in development.  Because Stautzenberger’s program is an associate degree, you will learn general class information like Psychology and Introduction to Physics.  You will spend much of your time in specialized learning about medical sonography like  Ultrasound Physics, Ethics and Medical Law in Sonography, and Basic Health Care Skills with CPR Certification.  In these classes, you will learn:

• Overview of theories of Psychology including theories of personalities
• The basics of physics including light waves and refraction
• Introduction to the physics of Ultrasound
• Legal and Ethical issues in the Healthcare profession
• Basic knowledge of health care procedures including life-saving CPR
