Graduate Highlight - Vincent Reed - HVAC/R

At Maumee Campus, Mr. Reed pursued his heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration diploma. Although he enjoyed the courses and looked forward to the prospect of a new career, the program came with its own challenges for him. “I worked third shift while raising a two-year-old and getting myself together as well,” Mr. Reed says. However, his favorite instructor gave him the extra push he needed to stay motivated. “Tom is a great teacher and will teach you everything you need to know,” he adds. Through his hard work and perseverance, Mr. Reed graduated in September of 2019, proud to have set a positive example for his family. “I had a dream and achieved that dream for my children,” he reflects.

Many of our students know that they are setting important examples for their children by showing them how to tackle challenges and live up to their commitments. They are showing their families that success is not typically handed to you; instead, you have to earn it. Pursuing a career you enjoy and has room for personal growth also separates you from those who settle for whatever job is available at the time and never strive for change. By demonstrating these points, students like Mr. Reed have potentially shaped their childrens' behaviors and attitudes toward school, relationships, and decision-making.
