“My education helped me find a career I love,” says Jenna Pleban, Stautzenberger College graduate. Jenna knew she wanted to spend her future living out her passion rather than settling for just any career. Her mother was the one who inspired her to become a veterinary technician. “My mother knew my love for animals and suggested it to me,” recalls Jenna. After enrolling at Stautzenberger College, Jenna studied hard and developed her practical skills. She completed an externship at the Animal Wellness Center of Strongsville, where she was hired.

Sometimes, a fresh start is exactly what you need. After her marriage of 22 years ended, Cheryl Sparks began rebuilding her life. Pursuing a new career path was part of that effort. “I had always wanted to be in the medical field, so I chose this time to further my career,” Cheryl says. After enrolling in our medical office billing and coding program, Cheryl studied hard and completed an externship at ProCare Accident and Injury Center in Toledo.

“Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers,” according to History.com. In the late 1800s, “despite restrictions in some states, children as young as 5 or 6 toiled in mills, factories and mines across the country.” Many Americans “often faced extremely unsafe working conditions, with insufficient access to fresh air, sanitary facilities and breaks. On September 5, 1882, 10,000 workers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square in New York City, holding the first Labor Day parade in U.S. history.
