Meet Our Medical Assisting and Patient Care Technology Program Chair, Amber Clegg, RMA
On June 11, 2021

When did you start your dream career? Amber Clegg, RMA has been in the medical field since she was 15. Her passion for healthcare never faded but evolved over time. Although she used to focus only on helping patients, she is now proud to shape future healthcare workers.

Amber was ecstatic the day she became a registered medical assistant. For 10 years, Amber worked for a busy orthopedic surgeon. It was at his office that she learned the ins and outs of healthcare and began managing surgical patients. Ready to take her career to the next level, she began teaching high school students in a medical academy program. She soon realized that preparing new medical assistants for the challenges ahead was her calling in life. After furthering her education, she decided to take a leap of faith and become an instructor at Stautzenberger College's Maumee Campus.

Today, Amber is the Medical Assisting and Patient Care Technology Program Chair. Guiding students to academic success is an important goal of hers, but it is not the only one. She also wants students to realize what a tremendous impact they have on their communities. For Amber, changing patients' lives for the better is the best part of the job. Additionally, she hopes that students will enjoy their new careers after graduation just as much as she adores hers.

“I had many great mentors over the years that helped me get to where I am,” Amber says. “I can’t wait to see the success of all my students.” When she is not in the classroom, Amber still devotes her spare time to others. She enjoys spending time with her son and visiting the metro parks.
