What kind of positive change could you make after a life-altering event? When everything is going well, a distressing situation that blindsides you could have a profound effect on your life and character. A great way to learn from misfortunes is to find a way to grow and progress in a new direction. Stautzenberger College graduate Jameelah Kellar did this by channeling her energy into finding a new career.

Ms. Kellar decided to enroll at Stautzenberger College after a relationship ended. “My breakup after five years was when I decided to go back to school,” explains Ms. Kellar. “I wanted to be happy about what I was doing with my life.” In the animal welfare administration program, Ms. Kellar formed bonds with her instructors, particularly Megan Norwalk. “She's the best!” Ms. Kellar exclaims. During the online program, Ms. Kellar studied topics such as Comparative Animal Anatomy & Physiology, Client Communication Environmental & Humane Education and Outreach, and Professional Success Strategies. She graduated in April of 2019, excited to help animals with her unconditional love.

If you are struggling with anything in your life, consider what positive changes you could make and then be sure to act. Do not obsess over the past but focus on improving instead, just as Ms. Kellar did.
